Rajasthan plans to increase crude oil production to 80,000 barrels per day in phases through the use of enhanced oil recovery technologies, Additional Chief Secretary, Mines and Petroleum, Aparna Arora, said on Monday.
The state currently produces around 51,000-52,000 barrels of crude oil per day.
According to the Mines and Petroleum Department, producers will use Alkali Surfactant Polymer (ASP) technology in the Barmer-Sanchore and Jaisalmer basins, while Cyclic Steam Stimulation (CSS) will be used in the Bikaner-Nagaur basin to increase crude oil production.
The state has 12 petroleum leases and 12 petroleum exploration licences. Natural gas production in Rajasthan stands at 2.6-2.8 MMSCMD.
Arora reviewed the progress of the petroleum and city gas distribution (CGD) sectors at the Secretariat on Monday. Rajasthan ranks second in onshore natural gas production and third in crude oil production among states.
The 9 MMTPA-capacity HPCL Rajasthan Refinery Limited (HRRL) refinery will process 1.5 million tonnes of crude oil produced in Rajasthan. Arora directed that crude oil produced in the state should be processed at the state refinery.
Reviewing the CGD sector, Arora said the state has set a target of establishing 60 CNG stations during the current financial year. Of these, 23 new CNG stations have been commissioned. She directed officials to complete the target of 60 stations by December.
She also directed officials to focus on providing piped natural gas (PNG) connections to multi-storey buildings.
Director, Petroleum, Avadhesh Singh said Cairn Vedanta, Oil India, ONGC and Focus Energy are involved in crude oil and natural gas production in the state.
Rajasthan State Gas Limited (RSGL) Managing Director Vinay Patni presented an update on the progress of CGD entities.
Officials from the Mines and Petroleum Department and other concerned departments attended the meeting.
