AuMEGA Metals Ltd (ASX:AAM, TSX:AUM, OTCQB:AUMMF) has completed its first diamond drilling program at the Isle aux Morts Granite and adjoining Cape Ray West target area in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, with assays now pending and the drill rig moved to Bunker Hill.
The campaign comprised nine holes for about 2,087 metres and marked the first-ever drilling into the Isle aux Morts Granite, testing several geological concepts including structurally controlled gold mineralisation and a possible intrusion-related magmatic-hydrothermal system.
Seven holes were completed within the granite itself, testing the intrusive core, western flank and the interpreted contact with surrounding sedimentary rocks. Two deeper holes into the core reached 351 metres and 372 metres respectively.
Assay results are expected progressively over the coming weeks.

Early Bird and Window Glass Hill tested
The program also included an extension hole at Window Glass Hill and the first drill hole at the new Early Bird gold target.
Early Bird lies around 1.2 kilometres west of AuMEGA’s BP deposit and was defined from surface geochemistry, including the highest gold-in-till result from last year’s survey.
The target combines an interpreted structural hinge with northeast-trending shear zones, magnetic destruction, anomalous gold and base metals in till and chalcopyrite-bearing quartz veins mapped at surface.

Rig moves to Bunker Hill
AuMEGA has now mobilised the rig to Bunker Hill, where drilling has commenced across three priority areas targeting gold and polymetallic mineralisation.
These include the Southeast Base Metals target, defined by coincident lead, silver, copper and zinc anomalies; the Branch Fault Corridor gold target; and Bunker Hill West, where secondary structures intersect the main Cape Ray Shear Zone.
Managing director and CEO Sam Pazuki said completion of the first drilling at Isle aux Morts was an important milestone.
“We now look forward to receiving the assay results and integrating them with our geological, geophysical and geochemical datasets to refine the next phase of drilling.”
AuMEGA expects to return to Cape Ray in the middle of the fourth quarter for follow-up drilling, potentially including deeper testing within and around the Isle aux Morts Granite.
