Sirte Oil Production and Manufacturing Company has successfully completed operational testing of the metering station, marking the first phase of a project to convert the Sirte Steam Power Plant from liquid fuel to natural gas, the National Oil Corporation (NOC) said.

According to the NOC, the next stage will involve filling the branch pipeline and commissioning the pressure reduction station in preparation for supplying the plant’s generating units with natural gas.

The corporation expects to complete the remaining operational tests and begin gas deliveries to the plant within the next few days, a move expected to improve operating efficiency, reduce reliance on liquid fuel, and deliver economic and environmental benefits while supporting the electricity sector and expanding the use of natural gas.
