How to get Crude Oil in Palworld
In Palworld, you need to use a Crude Oil Extractor to farm Crude Oil from its deposits across the map, or you might get it as an item drop from specific Pals.
1. Find Crude Oil Deposits
As of Palworld 1.0, you can find multiple Crude Oil deposits across the Palapagos Islands. At the time of writing, the best places to look for Crude Oil deposits are on Feybreak Island and Twilight Dunes.
If you head to Twilight Dunes, you need to make sure you’re doing everything you can to protect yourself from the heat. This is why, arguably, the best place for a Crude Oil base currently is Feybreak Island.
You’ll know you’ve found a Crude Oil deposit as they are the dark and oily (surprise, surprise) markings on the ground.
2. Build Crude Oil Extractor
When you’ve found a deposit or two you want to get Crude Oil from, you then need to craft and place a Crude Oil Extractor over the top of it.
Now, to unlock the Crude Oil Extractor you need to reach Level 50 and then unlock the crafting recipe using two Technology Points. However, that’s the easy part. The next task is getting the right materials to craft it:
- 50x Circuit Boards
- 250x Pal Metal Ingots
Once you’ve built this, place it over the Crude Oil node. Power it up with electricity and get to work!
3. Specific Pal Drops
If you’re not in the mood for creating yet another base, then you can try your hand at getting Crude Oil from specific Pals. Some enemies found on the Oil Rig can drop it, but if you’re going via the item drop route, you’re safer tackling Pals.
These are the Pals that have a chance to drop Crude Oil when defeated:
- Kitkit
- Maraith
- Menasting Terra
- Smokie
- Sootseer
Just remember that there’s only a chance that these Pals can drop Crude Oil, and you may walk away with other materials instead.
