Interactive Brokers has launched cryptocurrency staking for eligible clients, starting with Ethereum, as the brokerage continues to expand its digital asset offering.
The service is provided by zerohash and allows eligible Interactive Brokers LLC clients to stake ETH through a dashboard in the broker’s Client Portal, according to an announcement Tuesday.
Clients can submit staking and unstaking requests and track pending activity through the dashboard. Rewards, when earned, are credited as additional staked cryptocurrency and can compound while the position remains staked.
“Similar to how our Stock Yield Enhancement Program allows clients to earn additional income on shares they own, staking gives clients an opportunity to earn rewards on the cryptocurrency they own,” Interactive Brokers CEO Milan Galik said. “We want clients to earn more from the assets they hold.”
The launch follows a series of additions to the broker’s crypto services, including expanded token support, transfers to external wallets and stablecoin funding.
In July, Interactive Brokers added nine tokens through zerohash and three through Paxos, with some assets available through both providers. The expansion brought its zerohash trading lineup to 20 digital assets, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, XRP and NEAR.
The brokerage first launched direct cryptocurrency trading in September 2021, initially offering Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin and Bitcoin Cash through Paxos. Its recent announcements expand that existing business into more assets and services.
Interactive Brokers also introduced USDC account funding in January. Its stablecoin services now support USDC, Ripple’s RLUSD and PayPal’s PYUSD for eligible clients, alongside transfers of supported crypto assets to and from external wallets.
The staking rollout was signaled in June, when zerohash announced staking infrastructure for brokerages, banks and fintech platforms. Galik said at the time that Interactive Brokers planned to offer staking alongside its existing investment products.
Together, the additions show how the brokerage is building crypto into its broader investment platform. Clients can trade digital assets alongside stocks, options, futures, bonds and funds, while gaining access to services previously associated mainly with dedicated crypto platforms.
Interactive Brokers said product availability varies by affiliate and country of residence. At launch, its staking service is available to eligible Interactive Brokers LLC clients and supports Ethereum.
