Interactive Brokers offers access to Bitcoin as a coin held by an outside provider. Spot Bitcoin ETFs appear in its product search, and trading them needs IBKR’s Complex or Leveraged ETP permission. Interactive Brokers crypto trading runs through Zero Hash LLC, which trades as zerohash, or Paxos, and IBKR says it “is not party to any transactions in digital assets”. Coins at either provider are outside SIPC, the industry-funded body that covers customers of a failed member brokerage.

Spot Crypto Through Zero Hash And Paxos

Zero Hash LLC trades and holds coins for individual accounts, and Paxos does the same for joint, trust and organizational accounts. Paxos converted to a national trust bank chartered by the OCC, the federal regulator of national banks, in December 2025 by its own account. IBKR offers 20 coins, and Paxos accounts get fewer. Trades cost 0.12% to 0.18% of value by monthly volume, with a $1.75 minimum that never exceeds 1% of the trade. IRAs cannot hold spot crypto. IBKR lists no staking.

Since March 25, 2026, coins can be sent in, and they reach self-custody crypto wallets or crypto exchanges that serve US investors only through the Paxos or zerohash web app. A deposited coin is locked for 30 days, and USD funded with a stablecoin waits 30 business days before withdrawal. IBKR charges no fee to move crypto. Network fees may apply, set by Paxos or zerohash.

Crypto ETFs At Interactive Brokers: Bitcoin, Ether, Solana And XRP

58 of the 63 US crypto ETFs on CryptoSlate’s list appear in Interactive Brokers’ product search, with Solana, XRP and altcoin funds beside spot Bitcoin ETFs. IBKR’s crypto page states that “Complex or Leveraged Exchange Traded Products trading permission is needed to trade cryptocurrency ETPs.” IBKR does not say whether an IRA can buy them.

Asset Spot ETFs Listed At Interactive Brokers Notes
Bitcoin 13 of 13 Every continuing fund on the list
Ethereum 11 of 12 One fund missing
Solana 9 of 10 One fund missing
XRP 5 of 5 Every fund on the list
Other altcoins 20 of 22 LTCN and OBNB appear as OTC stock

One of the 63 has closed, so 58 of 62 open funds appear. A listing shows a fund can be found, not that each order is accepted. IBKR lists no ban on any crypto fund type.
