Libya retained its position as Italy’s largest crude oil supplier during the first four months of 2026, accounting for 26.8% of total imports, according to the Italian Energy for Mobility Union (UNEM).

Italy imported around 18.6 million tonnes of crude oil between January and April, a 3.4% increase compared with the same period last year.

Libya ranked ahead of Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan, with Italy sourcing oil from 24 countries overall during the period.
