Miras Investments, a globally diversified institutional family office based in the Middle East, has appointed Matthew Lesesky as Global Head of Private Equity. Lesesky will oversee the firm’s worldwide private equity investment program, reporting directly to Chief Investment Officer Elizabeth Hewitt.
The appointment strengthens Miras Investments’ alternative investment capabilities as the firm continues allocating capital across private equity, venture capital, hedge funds, and other investment strategies.
Founded in 1980, Miras operates as a multigenerational family office with an institutional investment structure and a long history of partnering with external asset managers.
In his new position, Lesesky will lead the firm’s private equity investment activities, which primarily involve commitments to commingled funds managed by third-party investment firms.
The strategy also incorporates selective co-investments, allowing Miras to participate directly alongside investment managers in individual transactions when appropriate.
Lesesky will work closely with Hewitt, the firm’s Investment Committee, and shareholders to oversee portfolio construction, capital commitment pacing, investment selection, and risk management.
His responsibilities will include evaluating private equity opportunities across global markets and strengthening relationships with investment managers.
Lesesky brings nearly three decades of investment experience, including substantial expertise managing alternative investment portfolios for nonprofit institutions.
Before joining Miras in October 2026, he spent approximately 14 years at UNC Management Company, the Chapel Hill-based investment organization responsible for managing long-term investments and endowment assets for the University of North Carolina System.
Most recently, Lesesky served as Managing Director on UNC Management Company’s private investment team.
In that position, he helped oversee private equity investments across venture capital, growth equity, and buyout strategies for the $17 billion UNC Investment Fund.
His experience includes developing investment portfolios, selecting external managers, evaluating private market opportunities, and managing long-term institutional capital commitments.
Before UNC Management Company, Lesesky held investment management roles at Hatteras Funds and Pacific Corporate Group Capital Partners.
Earlier in his career, he worked as an associate in Citigroup’s Investment Banking division, an associate at early-stage venture capital firm Fusion Ventures, and an analyst at Andersen Consulting.
Lesesky earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, majoring in Applied Science and Computer Science with a minor in Mathematics.
He also holds an MBA from the University of North Carolina’s Kenan-Flagler Business School.
At Miras, his appointment supports the firm’s strategy of building long-term relationships with established and emerging private market investment managers.
The family office maintains investment teams in the United States and the Middle East and manages a globally diversified portfolio spanning public equities, hedge funds, private equity, and venture capital.
With Lesesky leading its private equity activities, Miras intends to strengthen its investment program while maintaining its emphasis on disciplined portfolio construction and long-term partnerships.
