The firm has snapped up the former head of Davidson Chalmers Stewart’s Edinburgh-based real estate team.
UK law firm Brodies has hired Andrew Tyler as a partner in its Edinburgh-based real estate practice, effective 28 September.
The former head of Davidson Chalmers Stewart’s real estate team, Tyler brings more than two decades’ experience advising investors, developers, occupiers and funders across the living, life sciences, healthcare, hospitality and leisure, logistics and light industrial, and corporate occupier markets. His practice spans the full lifecycle of development projects, from acquisition and funding through asset management and disposal.
Brodies said the hire comes amid increasing client demand for specialist real estate advice across various asset classes and sectors, particularly the living and life sciences industries.
Tyler returns to Brodies after seven years away, having previously practised at the firm between 2017 and 2019 before moving to Burness Paull and later Davidson Chalmers Stewart. In his earlier career, he held roles at The Commercial Law Practice and Anderson Strathern.
“I am delighted to be returning to Brodies and to be joining the partnership,” said Tyler in a statement. “Having worked here earlier in my career, I know the strength of the real estate team, the quality of its people and the firm’s collaborative approach to client service.”
“The real estate market continues to evolve, particularly in sectors such as living, life sciences and healthcare, creating significant opportunities for clients and their projects,” he continued. “I look forward to working with colleagues across the firm and contributing to the continued success of the practice.”
Brodies managing partner Stephen Goldie said Tyler’s return will augment the firm’s real estate practice “across many sectors of strategic importance”, adding: “His expertise in development work, combined with his strong track record in the living sector, will add further strength and depth to the firm. We are delighted to welcome him back to the firm and look forward to the contribution he will make as we continue to grow our real estate practice.”
