Jeanine Pirro made some staggering remarks about cryptocurrency on Fox News.

On Saturday, September 12, the 75-year-old U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia appeared on Fox News‘ Saturday in America to discuss cryptocurrency and a massive DOJ crackdown on Chinese-run cyber scam centers operating in Southeast Asia. Pirro spoke to host Kayleigh McEnany about intervening in a romance scam involving a doctor.

After Pirro and her team informed the medical professional that he was in the middle of a scam, he told them he “felt it was wrong,” but didn’t think a scammer would spend that much time invested in him. That’s when Pirro claimed, “Americans don’t understand cryptocurrency.” This comes after President Donald Trump’s family’s crypto business got conditional approval to operate like a bank.

The attorney told McEnany, “And it turns out, he’s about to sell his home, he’s about to move away with this woman, “woman,” and he engages in this relationship with a scammer where she essentially says, ‘Let’s go to WhatsApp, and there’s a lot of money we can make to buy a new home.’

“We got involved, said, ‘Hey, Doctor, you’re in the middle of a scam here.’ And he said to us, he said, ‘Look, I felt it was wrong, but I didn’t think a scammer would spend that much time invested in me. It has to be real.’

“They want it to be real because Americans don’t understand cryptocurrency. It’s Greek to them, and they say, ‘Well, there’s a lot of money to be made!'”

Social media user Aaron Rupar shared the moment on X, where several viewers called out Trump’s own cryptocurrency ventures, which he’s claimed are not a conflict of interest.

Trump earned more than $1.4 billion last year from cryptocurrency-related business dealings, according to his 927-page mandatory financial report. It revealed that he reported $635 million in royalties from an entity called Celebration Coins, thought to be behind the $TRUMP meme coin, which has since declined in value since he launched it days before taking office in January 2025.

Over $500 million in income was reported from World Liberty Financial, a cryptocurrency firm founded by his own sons, Don Jr. and Eric Trump, and the children of his special envoy, Steve Witkoff.

However, the White House denied he was profiting from the presidency. Meanwhile, Trump said “everybody” was benefiting from rising stock markets, and that he doesn’t get involved with his personal finances, per the BBC. The crypto-related earnings from his latest disclosure report total $1,430,390,415.

Trump’s total income last year was at least $2.2 billion, a major increase over his disclosed income for 2024, when he reported more than $600 million.

The White House, which has repeatedly noted that Trump has placed his businesses in a trust managed by his sons, again denied a conflict of interest. White House Deputy Press Secretary Anna Kelly said the president had proudly made the US “the crypto capital of the world.”

“Neither the President nor his family has ever engaged – or will ever engage – in conflicts of interest,” she said in a statement, adding, “All actions by President Trump and his administration are taken in the best interest of the American people – and any so-called ‘reporters’ pushing otherwise are recycling the same, tired, false narrative that Democrats and the legacy media have been pushing for a decade.”

Trump told reporters in early July, “You know why I’m profiting, because the stock market’s going up, everybody’s profiting. I don’t get involved in my personal [finances], we have funds that run my money. I’ve made a lot of money before I became president, and they invest my money, and I don’t talk to them.”

Trump once criticized cryptocurrency, calling Bitcoin a “scam” in 2021 and a “disaster waiting to happen.”
