Law firm Shoosmiths has appointed Charlotte Ward as a partner in its real estate division, as the firm continues to expand its advisory capabilities in investment, development and finance.

Joining from DWF, Ward brings more than 20 years of experience advising on high-value real estate transactions, including complex acquisitions, disposals and financing arrangements.

She will be based in the firm’s Birmingham office, although her work will support clients and projects across the UK as part of Shoosmiths’ national real estate offering.

Ward advises a broad client base spanning developers, institutional investors and financial institutions, with experience across the full project lifecycle from acquisition and funding through to disposal and refinancing. Her sector expertise includes industrial and logistics assets, offices, retail and consumer-focused property.

Her appointment forms part of Shoosmiths’ wider investment in its real estate practice, which remains a central pillar of the firm’s long-term growth strategy.

Joe Mazzucca, partner and head of Shoosmiths’ Real Estate Division, said: “Charlotte is a highly regarded investment lawyer with an exceptional track record and a strong institutional client base that aligns closely with our growth ambitions. Her appointment significantly strengthens Investment and Development practices and reflects our continued investment in Real Estate, one of Shoosmiths’ three market-facing pillars, as part of our 2030 strategy. She is a proven team leader whose collaborative and inclusive approach is a natural cultural fit for Shoosmiths, and we look forward to the positive impact she will have across the firm.”

Ward said: “Shoosmiths has a clear and ambitious vision for its Real Estate practice, and I’m thrilled to be joining such a strong team at an exciting point in the firm’s growth. The firm’s focus on high-value institutional work and its collaborative culture were immediately compelling, and I look forward to contributing to the firm’s Real Estate offering across the UK and more widely.”

The hire follows a series of senior appointments and promotions across Shoosmiths’ real estate, planning and construction teams, as the firm continues to scale its presence in key growth sectors and strengthen its national platform.
