Denshattack's Free Update Challenges You to Earn Even Harder Platinum Medals on PS5 1

One of this year’s big indie breakouts is Denshattack, an arcadey action game in which you blast through stages in a train that can pull off tricks like a skateboard.

It takes a little bit of time to acclimatise to its controls, but once you’re there, it’s a super fun game that moves really fast and constantly introduces new layers to its gameplay.

Every level awards you with a medal based on your performance, with gold being the highest grade you could achieve — that is, until now.

Developer Undercoders has released a new, free game update for Denshattack that introduces a platinum medal tier, meaning even expert players now have a whole new set of challenges to conquer.

I’ve had a little look, and there are a couple of things to note about the platinum medals:

  • Platinum medals are awarded retroactively, meaning if you’ve already surpassed the required score for a platinum, you’ll have it when you boot up the game post-update. Of the game’s 65 levels, I have one platinum medal.
  • It appears that platinum medals are only related to score rather than also requiring particular times or the completion of Dares.
  • The game doesn’t tell you what the platinum score targets are, so you’ll just have to go as hard as you can.

For those that manage to get a platinum medal on every stage, you’ll unlock a special new train, much like the reward for getting gold on every level.

In addition to the platinum medals, the update also adds the option to watch previously viewed cutscenes. To do so, zoom out on the map screen and you’ll see a clap board on the left; press the touch pad to open the cutscene menu.

It’s a nice update for fans who now have some much tougher targets to achieve. I managed to get all gold, but I haven’t played for a while, so the platinum medals might be pushing it.
