Gold, silver price today: White metals join the rally as silver, platinum and palladium surge
The gains in precious metals extended beyond gold, with silver and platinum group metals also witnessing strong buying interest in international markets. Spot silver jumped 2.8% to $59.81 per ounce, outperforming gold’s percentage gain during the session. Platinum climbed 2.6% to $1,629.15 an ounce, while palladium advanced 2.1% to $1,269.43 an ounce. The broad-based rally across the precious metals complex reflected improving investor sentiment as easing geopolitical tensions weighed on oil prices and helped soften inflation concerns. Analysts said lower energy prices and a weaker US dollar boosted demand for metals, while market participants remained cautious ahead of the US Federal Reserve’s policy decision, which is expected to set the tone for commodity markets in the near term.
