Hordle CE Primary School is celebrating after achieving the Platinum Sports Mark for the sixth consecutive year, recognising the school’s outstanding commitment to physical activity, inclusion and sporting opportunities for every pupil.
The award reflects the dedication of staff, who ensure children stay active not only during PE lessons but throughout the school day. Pupils benefit from active playtimes led by trained play leaders, regular movement breaks and use of the school’s Daily Mile track, helping to improve concentration, behaviour and wellbeing.
Headteacher Louise Trim said: “I am extremely proud of our inclusive approach to sport which ensures that all children get the opportunity and the pride and joy of representing their school. This commitment is important to us and reflects one of our core values of teamship.”
Hordle continues to take pride in its sporting alumni, including England U21 rugby captain Connor Treacey and his brother Declan, who both have captained England in age-group rugby.
Coach Dobson said: “We are extremely proud to have achieved platinum for the sixth year running. This award reflects our commitment to making sport inclusive, enjoyable and accessible for every child at Hordle.”
Hordle offers a wide range of extracurricular clubs, including basketball, rugby, multi-sports, karate, dance and football, with many pupils continuing their sporting journeys through local clubs.
Throughout the year, every phase group takes part in intra-school festivals, while Years 1 to 6 have all represented the school at least once in competitive sport this academic year through its partnership with the School Sports Partnership.
Foundation Stage pupils also enjoy their own festivals, ensuring even the youngest children become part of the school’s sporting culture, while sports day sees every child involved, whether competing, officiating or supporting classmates.
