If you felt like the Platinum Trophy in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth took too long to achieve, you’re in luck. The producer of Final Fantasy Revelation, Naoki Hamaguchi, has clarified in an interview with Express Online that the Platinum Trophy for the final chapter in the Remake series will be much easier to get.
While Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is largely considered to be one of the best open-world RPGs in recent times, there was some criticism that the included mini-games could overextend the amount of time it took to complete the game – especially if you weren’t a fan of them.
I asked Hamaguchi whether playtime was something that he considered when directing both Rebith and Revelation. He responded, saying: “We do keep playtime in mind when we’re working on development, but personally, I don’t think it’s what we should be focusing on above all. When it comes to an open world game, I think it’s about the level of freedom that you have and the choices you can make.”
He goes on to say: “One thing that we’re being really careful of in Revelation as compared to Rebirth, say in Rebirth you had a forty percent main story, sixty percent side content, we were careful to say it’s up to you whether you want to engage with this.”
In Rebith, a lot of battle-related rewards were locked behind mini-games, encouraging players to complete them all before heading on to the next area. Otherwise, they risked butting heads with enemies that were too tricky to defeat.
In Revelation, these mini-games will be tweaked so that they have difficulty sliders, and all rewards will either be cosmetic or related to the mini-game itself. There will also be an option to skip the mini-games altogether if you prefer.
As such, this also means that the Platinum Trophy will be much easier to earn. “Additionally, trophies have been balanced to be at a slightly easier level than they were in Rebirth,” explains Hamaguchi.
It’s currently unclear whether this means you won’t need to complete any miini-games to unlock that Platinum Trophy. It’s more likely that you’ll need to at least dabble in a few, but Hamaguchi isn’t going to make you play 30 hours of Queen’s Blood if you don’t want to.
