Shares jumped in Winsford-based tissue-healing technology group, Advanced Medical Solutions, today (April 20), following confirmation that it is the subject of potential takeover talks.
AMS Group manufactures surgical brands including LiquiBand and Resorba.
At the weekend Sky News reported Boston, Massachusetts-based TA Associates (UK) was preparing an offer for AMS worth around 280p per share, or £600m in total.
In response to the media reports AMS issued a stock exchange statement this morning that said it is in discussions with private equity firm TA regarding a possible offer for the entire issued and to be issued share capital of AMS.
It said there can be no certainty that a firm offer will be made for AMS, nor as to the terms on which a firm offer might be made.
TA now has until 5pm on May 16, 2026, to either announce a firm intention to make an offer for AMS or announce that it does not intend to make an offer.
AMS shares closed trading last Friday priced at 228p per share.
Trading in its stock opened this morning at 260p per share, representing a 14% increase, giving the business a £574.37m market capitalisation.
At one stage the share price jumped to an annual high of 272p before settling back.
In September 2024 shares in AMS climbed on the back of speculation over a takeover move by private equity investor Inflexion.
Then, in March last year, AMS was the subject of bid interest from London-based mid-market private equity firm Montagu Private Equity, although no formal offer was lodged.
