An oil broker at a leading City firm is facing investigation after an ‘inappropriate and unacceptable’ expletive-laden rant at a counterpart was made public.

Danny Fenn, who works for London-based commodities brokerage Marex Spectron, can be heard in an audio recording raging over the terms of a deal.

In the recording, which is said to have spread across the Square Mile, Mr Fenn is accused by Bart Pratt, head of the fuel desk at Onyx Capital, of making a ‘c***y comment’.

The remark drives Mr Fenn into a fury as he says ‘I’m going to rip that c***’s head off’ even as colleagues try to calm him down.

A spokesman for Marex said: ‘We hold ourselves to the highest professional standards – and therefore consider the behaviour in the recording inappropriate and unacceptable.

‘The broker in question has apologised to his counterpart, who we understand has accepted the apology. We are reviewing the incident to determine whether disciplinary action is appropriate.’

New York-listed Marex is valued at $2.5bn (£1.9bn) and has more than 40 offices across the world.

It is not the first time that Mr Fenn’s behaviour has landed him in hot water.

In 2017, an employment tribunal heard that a feud between trader Sebastian France and Mr Fenn – who was his boss – came to blows.

Mr France had often been called a ‘c***’ by his boss and the pair also rowed over a £50,000 bonus.

Spectron admitted to the tribunal that Mr France was unfairly dismissed because of Mr Fenn’s ‘verbal insults and abuse’.

The tribunal found  that Mr Fenn regularly referred to Mr France as ‘butters’ (meaning ugly), ‘posh t**t’, ‘fat’ and ‘c***’.

‘He wrote ‘butters’ on the claimant’s pay slip in July 2013 and ‘posh t**t’ on his bonus letter in November 2013.

‘From about 2015 Mr Fenn formed the view that the claimant was not working as effectively as he could be and he became increasingly rude and abusive towards him.’

On another occasion, in 2018, he was accused of ‘squaring up’ to ticket inspectors during a foul-mouthed rant at railway ticket inspectors at London’s Liverpool Street station. The charges were later said to have been dropped.

It was alleged that Fenn had swore at two ticket inspectors in front of commuters, before turning his abuse towards a PC who tried to intervene.

In the recording of the latest episode, Mr Pratt accuses Mr Fenn of making a ‘c***y comment’, the Telegraph reported.

Mr Fenn responds by asking him ‘Did you just call me a c***?’ and Mr Pratt replies ‘No, I said it was a c***y comment’.

But Mr Fenn persists and tells Mr Pratt to ‘call me a c*** face to face’ next time they see each other, adding ‘Let’s see if you’re a big boy’.

Mr Pratt attempts to interject only for Mr Fenn to tell him to ‘shut the f*** up’ and: ‘I’ll march you off to a little corner, and we’ll see who the c*** is.’

A colleague in the recording is heard saying ‘I know you’re angry Danny but don’t.’

But Mr Fenn screams: ‘He can f*** off. I’m going to rip that c***’s head off.’

He then asks Mr Pratt if he wants to ‘meet at lunchtime’ and then suggests ‘let’s meet now’ but Mr Pratt can be heard saying ‘I don’t want to meet you, Danny. You sound f****** furious’ before the recording comes to an end.
