Singtel introduced a hybrid quantum-safe network combining quantum key distribution and post-quantum cryptography to extend protection from enterprises’ core data centres to their remote, cloud and international operations.
Singtel Singapore CEO Ng Tian Chong noted the system, the first in Southeast Asia, gives enterprises “a practical and scalable way to protect their most sensitive data while preparing for what’s next”.
A hybrid quantum-safe network is a secure method for distributing encryption keys only known between shared parties, while post-quantum cryptography is a new generation of encryption algorithms engineered to resist quantum attacks, a statement explained.
Singtel also signed an agreement allowing it to use Palo Alto Networks’ post-quantum cryptography to offer access to hybrid quantum-safe networks as a managed security service for businesses.
The hybrid network gives customers a range of flexible deployment options and service models, which the operator said helps enterprises adopt a more proactive and accelerated approach to quantum readiness.
The operator launched its first quantum-safe network in August 2024 for enterprises.
