Join Australia’s business leaders and a special guest, the Treasurer of Australia Jim Chalmers MP, as they discuss the country’s economic plan for the future in Sydney on June 8.

Sky News and The Australian will present Australia’s Economic Outlook, an intimate opportunity for Australian business leaders to gather and explore the challenges and solutions for a strong economy in 2022 and beyond.

Joining the exclusive line-up of event speakers and panellists will be the newly-appointed Treasurer of Australia and Federal Member for Rankin, Jim Chalmers MP.

He will share his insights on what the next three years have in store for the economy, and how the new Labor Government will navigate the challenges and opportunities.

Attendees will also hear from business leaders Jennifer Westacott AO, Business Council of Australia’s Chief Executive Officer, Daniel Walton National Secretary of the Australian Workers Union, Frank Calabria, Chief Executive Officer of Origin Energy, Kevin Gallagher, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Santos, Dom Taylor, General Manager at Uber ANZ, and Steve McCann, Chief Executive Officer of Crown Resorts and Chief Executive Officer Crown Melbourne, who will explore the most topical issues facing business and the economy.

The discussion topics covered during the panel sessions include: business under a new term of government, the state of the economy in a new environment of rising inflation and higher interest rates, energy transition and energy security, ongoing supply chain challenges and national security and opportunities for growth for business and its many stakeholders.

Hosted by Sky News’ AM Agenda anchor and leading political journalist Laura Jayes, the inaugural business luncheon event will take place on Wednesday June 8 at the Crown Towers in Sydney, with official partners Crown Resorts and realestate.com.au.

Also joining the discussion panels are Andrew Clennell, Sky News Political Editor, Ticky Fullerton, Business Editor-At-Large at The Australian and Ross Greenwood, Sky News Business Editor.

Paul Whittaker, Chief Executive Officer at Sky News Australia said: “With a recent change in government, and as Australia continues to emerge from the pandemic and open back up to the world, it is a pivotal time for the business community to come together to discuss the measures needed to continue the positive economic trajectory we find ourselves fortunate to be on.

“There is also, however, a fair degree of uncertainty as to how consumers will respond to the current rate rises and inflation and the looming economic headwinds.

“We are delighted to welcome the Treasurer of Australia Jim Chalmers, together with some of Australia’s most esteemed business leaders, to the inaugural Australia’s Economic Outlook, an event that will bring together the business community as we explore the best way forward for our nation.”
