L&G has launched a new ‘Annuities Explained’ YouTube series, a six-part educational campaign designed to help UK adults better understand their retirement income options.
The launch follows the UK’s first National Annuities Day, sponsored by L&G, which found a significant gap between retirement aspirations and financial reality.
YouGov data, gathered as part of the awareness day, found that over a third (35%) of those aged 50 and over desire a ‘steady and stable’ income in retirement, but there’s a clear divide in financial assurance with 38% of adults admitting they aren’t confident about their financial security. This disconnect underscores the importance of providing clear and accessible information to help people make informed decisions about their financial future.
The ‘Annuities Explained’ series is presented in a conversational format, following pre-retiree Barry, as he begins to explore his retirement options with annuities expert, John Graves. The series breaks down complex topics into simple, digestible episodes, addressing the most common questions and searches related to annuities.
The six videos cover essential topics including:
- What is an annuity?
- Types of annuity
- Annuity vs drawdown
- UK annuity rates explained
- How is my annuity calculated?
- How do I buy an annuity?
