iCapital buys Hexure to tie together annuity and insurance stack
iCapital has agreed to acquire Hexure in a deal the fintech says will bring annuity, insurance and alternative investments under a single technology umbrella for advisors, distributors, and carriers.
The New York-based firm, known for its alternatives and structured products marketplace, said the transaction is aimed at creating an end-to-end annuity and insurance platform that connects education and discovery tools with order entry and post-sale servicing. Hexure brings digital and AI-enabled tools used across insurance and wealth management, including its FireLight sales platform and ForeSight illustration software.
The update from iCapital comes on the heels of DPL rolling out its Annuity Review tool, which is designed to help RIAs move large books of legacy annuities to fee-based advisory models
iCapital Chair and CEO Lawrence Calcano said the company already provides “the integrated technology platform that serves as an operating system for alternative investments, structured investments, and annuities,” and that adding Hexure’s software will help it support the insurance ecosystem “end-to-end, from front-end innovation through seamless back-end execution.”
Hexure chief executive Bill Lucchini said the combination will “enable critical sales and servicing workflows – helping firms operate more efficiently, scale with confidence, and better serve end investors.”
Hexure’s teams and partnerships will continue to support carriers and distributors, while iCapital’s broader infrastructure backs an open-architecture approach that still accommodates third-party solutions.
Nitrogen underscores AI governance with ISO 42001
Advisor tech provider Nitrogen said it has secured ISO/IEC 42001 certification, an international standard that sets requirements for how firms govern and monitor artificial intelligence systems. The company believes it is the first wealth management technology vendor to obtain the designation, which it says puts it alongside large tech platforms that have adopted the framework.
ISO 42001 focuses on Artificial Intelligence Management Systems, with auditors examining whether an organization has formal processes for AI governance, risk controls, ethics and continuous oversight. Nitrogen is pitching the certification as a way to address questions from compliance teams that increasingly want to know not just if vendors use AI, but how those systems are supervised.
“AI is rapidly becoming foundational to financial advice technology, but trust and governance must come first,” said Dan Zitting, chief executive officer at Nitrogen. He said ISO 42001 demonstrates that the company’s AI is “responsibly built, carefully governed, and continuously monitored,” and gives advisors independently audited evidence of how those systems are managed.
The certification underpins Nucleus, the agentic AI engine Nitrogen unveiled last month during its Fearless Investing Summit. Within the platform, Nucleus can help convert brokerage statements into portfolios, extract insights from documents, apply security screens using natural language, summarize meetings, prepare retirement income maps and generate client-facing reports, while keeping advisors in control of final outputs.
Intellebox.ai teams with Bear Traps to personalize macro research
Intellebox.ai said it has struck a partnership with The Bear Traps Report to distribute the publication’s macro and risk-focused research through Intellebox’s agentic AI platform.
The collaboration targets more than two thousand RIAs, wealth managers, hedge funds, family offices and other investors that follow The Bear Traps Report.
Intellebox.ai is an agentic AI platform that spun out of Dynasty-supported Intellectus Partners late last year.
The firm said it will use AI agents to route and customize Bear Traps’ weekly macro research, risk analysis, and trade ideas. Instead of static reports, Intellebox.ai aims to deliver more tailored, interactive experiences that adapt to user behavior and preferences.
“We are thrilled to welcome The Bear Traps Report as a key client,” said Intellebox.ai chief executive AJ De Rosa, highliging the partnership’s aim of creating “hyper-personalized experiences that empower users to make better-informed decisions faster.”
The Bear Traps Report, founded by Larry McDonald, focuses on global political and systemic risk and has built a following with its mosaic approach to macro alerts, policy analysis and cross-asset ideas. McDonald, who also sits on Intellebox.ai’s advisory board, said the partnership is meant to help clients cope with information overload.
