Eisenhower’s Gavin Lindemuth catches an 11-yard touchdown pass from Garrett Jensen.

The Eisenhower knights varsity football team concluded its three-day mini-camp with its annual Blue-Gold game, pitting the senior and freshmen class against the sophomore and junior class.

The underclassmen got on the scoreboard first when Cole Kellogg intercepted a Garrett Jensen pass, giving his team the ball inside the 30-yard line. The seniors defense didn’t allow a first down, forcing a Kellogg 27-yard field goal to put the underclassmen on the board 3-0.

The senior-led team would take the lead on a 12-yard pass from Jensen to freshman Gavin Lindemuth for the first of his two touchdown receptions on the day.

The juniors would score on a 3-yard Shawn Pascuzzi run, but that would be the last points for the juniors as the seniors took charge of the game from that point.

Keegan Eckstrom and Benji Bauer both scored touchdowns on the ground with a 9- and a 29-yard run respectively. Not to be outdone in the scoring, the senior-led defense would get a safety on a tackle in the end zone.

Jensen and Lindemuth would hook up again, this time on an 11-yard touchdown reception, making the final score 26-9 in favor of the seniors and freshmen.

Knights head coach Jim Penley ” We had a great week of practice,” Knights head coach Jim Penley said. “The kids worked hard. The coaches were impressed with a number of kids and I think that showed today. All four of the freshmen that got in the game today proved they are capable of playing and contributing at this level.”

The Knights look to get back into the playoffs and will need some of the younger players to step up.

“We have good depth,” Penley said. It was great to see the guys really compete today. They are hungry for the opportunity to play, and that can only help us.”
