Charlotte Cane, MP for Ely and East Cambridgeshire, has criticised the Government for persisting with what she calls the “Family Farm Tax,” which she says is putting undue strain on farmers in her constituency.

Ms Cane said: “Farmers across Ely and East Cambridgeshire have told me how hard this tax has hit them — it’s out of touch and deeply unfair.

“Our local family farms are vital not just for food production, but for the environment and for keeping our rural economy alive.”

The MP said she has met with farmers who are concerned about the future of their businesses and the ability of the next generation to remain on the land.

She said: “They deserve better than a Government that refuses to listen.”

Ms Cane has promised to continue advocating for those in the farming industry.

She said: “I will keep fighting for the farmers and rural communities I represent.”
