Absa Bank Uganda has launched three digital payment solutions, a multi-currency virtual card, Absa Pay and Absa Pay by Link, as the lender moves to tap rising demand for cash-light transactions. Retail and Business Banking Director Moses Rutahigwa says the tools, which allow real-time virtual card creation, contactless phone payments and instant merchant settlements, are designed to simplify both local and international transactions. This story comes as mobile banking in Uganda accelerates, with active users up 6.5% to 2.1 million and transaction values rising 39.4% to fifteen and a half trillion shillings, according to the central bank.
